BERNARD MANUFACTURING began its Florida manufacture
of made to order bags in March, 1992, as part
of the parent, company Bernard Cap.
Bernard Weinstein, president of Bernard Cap,
had had a long history as a supplier to the US
Department of Defense until his “retirement” in
1972.
In 1974 he founded Bernard Cap, which is now
the largest manufacturer of military dress uniform
headwear in the country. As such it has been
awarded the Quality Excellence Award by the Department
of Defense, the highest award for performance
over an extended period of time. Bernard is the
only company in the industry to be so honored.
Lawrence Weinstein joined the company in 1989
after many years as an executive in the apparel
industry. As president of Bernard Manufacturing,
he brought together a team from within the  promotional
products industry with the goal of establishing
the company as the top producer of high quality,
retail-looking, promotional “bags”.
After two years the business was expanded to
include a full line of high quality stock merchandise,
imported from overseas. A California warehouse
was established to stock and process the Far
East-sourced merchandise. This product extension
enabled the company to address a full range of
price points and delivery requirements. |
